Folk Implosion - Free To Go 7 Trk EP (2000)

The Folk Implosion was formed in the early 90's by Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, Sentridoh, Deep Wound) and John Davis. Mostly known for the small time hit 'Natural One', from the 'Kids' Soundtrack (Larry Clark Film, 1995) the band (just the 2 of them) previously released 2 albums of 4-track material between 1993-94. 1997 saw the release of the brilliant 'Dare To Be Suprised' album, followed in 1999 by the equally brilliant 'One Part Lullaby'. John Davis left the band in 2000. Barlow reformed the group in 2003 under the moniker 'The New Folk Implosion', recruiting Sebadoh alumni Russ Pollard (Alaska), and Imaad Wasif, also from the band Alaska. 'The New Folk implosion' released an album titled 'The New Folk Implosion' in late 2003, and a tour followed that even made it's way to Australia in 2004, completely blown away by this performance I have been trying to collect all I can of the band since. The 'New' band also appeared as actor Alessandro Nivola's backing band in the very shabby film 'Laurel Canyon', where you will also see a bit of solo bass action from Lou. I'm not sure if this EP actually exists but it is basically made up of tracks from the 'Free To Go' CD single, the 'One Part Lullaby' limited edition bonus disc, and the 'Free To Go' 7".
