Hey I was looking on the interrornet and found that some people had requested stuff from this blog, some more than a year ago. Although I'm a lazy prick who doesn't really care I will respond to requests if any. I no longer post anything that is copyrighted, like actual released stuff but I don't give a fuck and will do so if anyone is desperate. I do often download music as I don't have 7 million dollars to buy every fucking CD I want to hear, I buy shit I love, at the moment it's Animal Collective, Lanegan and Patton still, Tera Melos, M. Ward, I Love Zooey Deschanel etc etc etc who gives a rats ass. Anyway what's going on with you, oh yeah your sitting there looking at a computer screen, isn't it awesome all this information. Anyway this is rubbish I just thought I'd write something because I'm bored right now although How I Met Your Mother Is On and I'm gonna go watch that right now. Long live someone!

Some Info: After The Vaselines split up in 1989 Eugene Kelly formed Captain America. For some reason Marvel Comics objected to this name and forced Kelly to change it, and so Eugenius was born. Only two E.P's were released under the Captain America name, The Wow! E.P in 1991 and Flame On E.P in 1992. The three tunes included on this E.P later appeared on the Eugenius debut LP, definitely the stand out tracks on the album, especially the cover of the Beat Happening classic 'Indian Summer'. Recent days have seen Kelly collaborate with Evan Dando and Isobel Campbell, release a solo album in 2003 and the fantastic 'Older Faster' E.P also in 2003.

Animal Collective is a New York City-based group of experimental musicians from Baltimore, Maryland. Animal Collective consists of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). Records released under the name Animal Collective may include contributions from any or all of these members, but the lineup is not uniform. The band members met in school and started recording together in various forms of collaboration from a young age. Although the band is often classified as psych folk or noise rock, it is hard to define the Animal Collective sound as they often experiment with diverse styles and ideas. The group also runs the record label Paw Tracks on which they have released their own material as well as material by artists such as Ariel Pink, Terrestrial Tones, and The Peppermints.

If you've never heard of Animal Collective they could be compared to The Flaming Lips, The Polyphonic Spree or Sigur Ros, although they are much better, well better than the Lips and Spree, but Sigur Ros I'm not sure. They are at times catchy, weird, and all over the place. If you have never heard them or you are already a fan (and can't find some b-sides or early albums) then click on the title of this post to find a goldmine of Animal Collective recordings, including all that is listed below in the discography (except the releases marked with an *). Take a chance (start with track 1 from Feels) and enjoy.

Released on the Communion Label in 1996, the 2 tracks on
this release were recorded to 4-track cassette in spring 1995.
Although I do love the 2 songs on this record, I also like the artwork,
each track has a full size 7" cover. Palm Of My Hands and Mood
Swing can be also be found on the Folk Implosion self-titled
compilation, along with the 5 tracks from the Electric Idiot 7" (1994)

This post is the first in a series of some of my favorite 7 inches.
Released in 1998 on BLIND RECORDS the 2 Smudge tracks on
this record are acoustic demos of songs from the 1996 release
"You Me Carpark... Now!". This release is quite rare although I
found it at a second hand record store, and paid $10 for it. For
those who know nothing about Smudge, they are an indie group
from Sydney (Australia) and were active between 1991 and 1999,
they released three studio albums and a bunch of other stuff
(7 inches etc). Initially asked by Half A Cow Records owner, Nic
Dalton, to record a track for his first 7" release, the group went
on to record the "Don't Want To Be Grant McLennan 7" Single",
which became John Peel's record of the week upon release. The
band still occassionally play shows although they haven't showed
up in my hood since 2004, when they played a few shows to
celebrate the re-release of the "Manilow" LP (with Bonus Tracks).
Although late last year Half A Cow Records celebrated its 16th
birthday with a bunch of all star shows around the country.
Smudge (acoustic) was advertised in the line-up but come the
night Tom Morgan felt ill and couldn't play, this also cancelled
headliners Sneeze, as Morgan is also a member of this group along
with Nic Dalton (Godstar, Lemonheads, Hummingbirds etc). So I
left that gig very early in a drunken rage, and killed a bunch of
people on the walk home (for looking at me funny). No not really,
actually Sneeze still played but I couldn't be bothered as I was
disapponted with the whole event, apparently it got bad reviews.
The quality is a bit ordinary, I'd rate it A-

I went to the show in Melbourne and I still don't know what the hell it was about. It was noisy and uncomfortable, although support KK Null rocked. The album 'She' is pretty much the same, with some interesting artwork.

I found this somewhere and thought some people may share my love for all things Mike Patton, it was listed as an exclusive Sepultura & Mike Patton E.P although track 5 is not actually Sepultura, it is Andreas Moraes with 3 members of Sepultura, although yes it does sound a lot like Sepultura (I'm not sure why, duh). Track 1 & 2 have lead vocals by that gimp from Korn, you can hear Patton in the background making those weird noises he does so well, and track 4 is a rare one, not officially released and not as good as the original version. enjoy!

I saw Battles last night at the East Brunswick Club and it was fantastic, I expected alot and got what I expected. Highlights of the show were Atlas (of course), Tonto, Hi / Lo & Tras, which coincidently are some of my favourite tracks off the EP C / B EP compilation and the Mirrored LP. I attended the gig with a friend of mine who was on a short visit from Japan, having introduced him to the bands music a few days earlier he was equally impressed with the performance. We had a short conversation with Battles guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist Tyondai Braxton and he informed us that the group were on their way to Japan after a visit to Brisbane. So my friend Cameron will hopefully see them again Saturday night, and I'm jealous, but i'll get over it. I took some shitty photo's last night, the one below is BATTLES written in some form of Japanese, thanks to Cameron for pointing that one out.

This is an interesting tribute album, to one of Australia's greatest bands (well the first 3 albums anyway). The Saints were the original punk rock band, these days we have blink 182 and green day, they call it punk but who are they and why do they bother us with their crappy music. Anyway on this compilation you will hear some of the Saints better tunes covered by some cool bands, some not so cool bands, some Australian bands, some other bands, and even some bands you may never have heard of. And some bands you may never want to hear again.

Some people say the SCIENTISTS were the first grunge band

Qui was founded in 2000 by drummer/vocalist Paul Christensen and guitarist/vocalist Matt Cronk in Los Angeles, CA. Since debuting in LA in early 2001 and the release of their first full-length album, Baby Kisses, (Heart of a Champion) in 2003, they have maintained a prodigious pace of both local performances and national tours. Their idiosyncratic blend of punk, noise, metal and experimental genres, coupled with their advanced musical prowess, earned them a small but dedicated following throughout the U.S.

I could compare this band to the Melvins and Tool but I won't. I've always loved Scratch Acid and the Jesus Lizard are good too but with this group I appreciate David Yow a little bit more, although it seems to be the other two guys who i've never heard of that are the genius' behind this group, Yow just makes it that little bit cooler. Qui rock, turn this shit up loud to get the full effect, turn it up so loud that you can't even hear yourself think, because thinking is for chumps.

So I just watched Wrong Turn 2: Dead End and I must be the slowest man alive because I didn't even know Henry Rollins was the star until I saw him (in it). I was a fan of the original because, well, I love shitty horror movies, I love gore, and of course in-bred deformed mountain folk. The original had Eliza Dushku (Faith from Buffy) so thats something, but Henry Rollins as a retired marine colonel named Dale Murphy, kicking deformed mutants asses, well thats just awesome. The trailer should state first of all; Henry 'Fucking' Rollins... in... The movie is your typical Texas Chainsaw rip-off but entertaining none-the-less. It takes place in the back woods of Carolina, a new reality tv show is being filmed called "The Ultimate Survivor", Rollins is the host, the premise of the show is a post apocalyptic survival test, complete with fake radiation poisonings and so forth. Of course all goes bad when the local mutated freaks get a sniff of the young female contestants, and then the bloodbath begins with body parts a-flying and intestines a-showing. In the first 5 minutes a woman is cut in half down the centre, her intestines splashing on the road, then she is dragged off by two crazies. BUT heres the kicker, Rollins fights back, armed with dynamite arrows and a bow-and-arrow. So needless to say there is a lot of in-bred guts splashing on walls. So Henry Rollins: Action Hero; does it work? Well put it this way if you get 2 Dolph Lundgrens, 1 Arnold and a bag of Van Dammes you get half a Henry Rollins, complete with bad one-liners (after a successful kill). So does this movie suck? You bet your ass it does, but Rollins doesn't and that's a reason to watch it, also there's the gore factor, arrows through heads, axes in heads and of course the intestine thing. So I'm here to say (or write) hire out this film and watch it, why not! It's better than fucking Grays Anatomy.
